Here a few of the best pieces of my writing!

Non-Traditional Students and UAB's New Normal

As a part of a document design course, I was tasked with writing an article relating to student life on my university's campus. We were told to interview other students as a part of this process. As an off-campus and transfer student, I wanted to find out how other students with similar experiences were dealing with changes caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. After we submitted our assignments, I was honored to be asked by my professor to submit my article for publication in our campus' Professional Writing magazine, Memorandum, where it was selected for the 2022 edition of the magazine.

Telecommuting Benefits Research Report

In my capstone English course, Business Writing, we spent the entire semester researching a business related problem, coming up with a solution, and writing about it. For my research project, I used a real business and wrote about the problems surrounding the issue of telecommuting, as I took this course during the COVID-19 quarantine. I created a survey to send to employees of this company who I know personally, as well as found outside research on the topic. In the end, I wrote this letter/research report to be sent to the COO of the company, whose name has been changed for privacy. We were also required to create a presentation on the topic, consisting of both a slideshow and verbal presentation component.

The "Problem" of Race in Sutton Griggs' Imperium in Imperio

As an English major, I wrote many academic essays alongside all of the professional or business writing that I did. This is just one of those essays, specifically a literary analysis essay on one of my favorite books that I read throughout my time in college, Sutton Griggs' Imperium in Imperio. I wanted to share it as just another example of the range of writing skills that I possess.

Homelessness in Birmingham Blog

Another assignment that I completed during my Professional Writing education was to create a blog around an issue that I find significant in my home city, Birmingham, Alabama. One of the biggest issues in Birmingham (as well as many other cities) is the plight of the unhoused people within the city, who lack access to resources. I created this blog, where I wrote to explore the compounding factors surrounding this problem, and what the audience reading could do to try to help those affected by this issue.

more about me

I am probably what many would consider a bit of a nerd, but I consider myself an enthusiast! For my entire life, books (including comic books) and movies have been hugely influential to me, and so I am always looking for new things to watch and to read. I am also (perhaps most importantly) a huge fan of theme parks, and spend a lot of my time reading about them, watching documentaries about them, and visiting them! Theme parks are amazing to me for the same reason that I have always loved the arts of writing and filmmaking, because of the way that they can transport people to a completely new reality! They can make us laugh, make us scared, or even make us cry. Because of this, I have always been drawn to the Disney company, due to its ability to excel in the making of moving media and trailblazing themed experiences!

I am from the Birmingham, Alabama area, I have lived there for most of my life, and that is where I attended college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. However, more recently, I have begun to call the Orlando area my home! I participated in the Disney College Program earlier this year, beginning January 2023, and it changed my life! I got to see behind the scenes of one of my favorite places in the world, as well as learn a lot from the people that help create it, as well as work alongside the people that help keep it running!

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, especially my nephews and niece. Learning new things, especially new skills, is one of my favorite things to do though, and I love being able to gain more knowledge about a subject. I also like to stretch my creative skills outside of my field, and enjoy drawing, painting, digital sculpture, coding, and writing as hobbies.
